We are delighted to have Dr. Zbigniew Darzynkiewicz join us to present an update on the clinical diagnostic developments in DNA Analysis and Apoptosis. He will present his labs latest findings in cellular senescence and potential anti-aging modalities. On March 24-25, Dr. Darzynkiewicz will be the keynote speaker at the SoCal Flow Summit held at UCI Beckman Center. Join us the next day, March 26, at UCIMC when he spends the day with FloCyte! All attendees will receive a scholarship to attend the SoCal Flow Summit!
Cytometry in Cell Necrobiology. Apoptosis, Necrosis and Beyond
Described will be different modes of cell death and cytometric methods to detect and analyze them. Particular attention will be focused on apoptosis. The flow- and imaging- cytometric methods analyzing apoptosis-associated changes in mitochondria, plasma membrane and nuclei/nuclear DNA as well as detecting activation of caspases will be presented. Other modes of cell demise, including autophagy and induction of cellular senescence also will be described. Stressed will be the value of multiparametric analysis that makes it possible to correlate the cell death associated changes with other features of the cell, including the cell cycle position. Examples of the cell death induced by the common anticancer drugs targeting DNA and the cell cycle progression will be presented. Emphasized will be also potential difficulties and pitfalls in analysis of cell death, that frequently are related to particular methods
