We spent a very relaxing 4 days on the island of
Hvar in the little village of Jelsa (pronounced Yelsa)
We had traded a week of
our time share with Worldmark for a week at a small resort in this little
fishing village.
We
walked into town each evening for dinner and the fish and seafood were great!

to Dubrovnik! We loved this day,
cruising by beautiful islands, especially Korcula!

We landed at 4 that evening in Dubrovnik!
It is an amazing coastal old town,
bombed for 8 months by the Serbs although there is no strategic reason to do so,
just to break the spirit of the Croatians during the Yugoslav breakup. We have
learned a lot about this region and the war since visiting here. Their
tenacity and their ability to survive against incredible odds has increased our
respect for all they have endured!
We had wonderful
experiences walking the wall around the city and enjoying the evening walking
the old city streets. Our room for the night was in a 'sobe' , rooms to
rent right on the small harbor to the north of the old town, by the Pile gate.
(pronounced Pee lay)
