 Summary:

Performs routine antibody and morphological staining process of bone marrow, peripheral blood and tissue biopsies. Performs flow cytometry analysis of all samples for the department. Also prepares solutions and reagents, maintains laboratory records and performs general laboratory and instrument maintenance.

 Essential Duties:

Includes but is not limited to: 

Performs routine antibody processing of bone marrow, peripheral blood, and tissue biopsies for flow cytometry analysis.

Performs all aspects of laboratory procedures following safety guidelines and adhering to protocols in the NeoGenomics SOPM.

Adheres to all compliance and HIPAA regulations.

Performs instrument analysis of samples by flow cytometry.

Performs analysis of results by CXP software before submitting for interpretation and final reporting by the Medical Director.

Reports problems concerning individual cases, tests, equipment and supplies to laboratory supervisor or lead technologist to ensure timely resolution.

Prepares and aliquots solutions and reagents for laboratory procedures as directed in the procedure manual.

Records the required information in laboratory log books, specimen accession sheets, work flow drafts, etc., to ensure quality assurance of specimens.

Performs various housekeeping and/or maintenance tasks to keep laboratory and equipment in clean and operable condition.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in the chemical, physical or biological sciences.  

Qualification Requirements:

Basic Hematology experience of at least six months required. Flow cytometry experience preferred.

Certificate Compliance Requirements: 

Nationally:  NCA, ASCP or AMT

CA  Licensure in Hematology – Medical Technologist
